About Me

Hi there! My name is Peyton Perdue. Currently, I am a third-year journalism student at Western Washington University, specifically focusing on visual journalism. In addition to my degree in journalism, I am also pursuing a minor in religion and culture studies, where I concentrate on studying the landscape of American religion and its cultural and social impacts.

I have worked as a campus news reporter for The Western Front. My coverage included extracurricular events, policy news, breaking news, and long-form investigative pieces. I was fortunate enough to earn awards for my coverage including ‘News Story of the Quarter.’

In addition to my time as a reporter for The Front, I have also worked as a photographer for The Planet, WWU’s environmental magazine. My role included producing visual coverage for my peer’s stories as well as producing my own photo essay.

Currently, I am a freelance reporter at The Salish Current where I cover a variety of cultural and community stories in Whatcom, Skagit, and San Juan Counties. I seek to produce fair, creative, and exciting coverage for my community and beyond.

This work fulfills both my curiosity and creativity, and I could not be more excited to continue to learn and work in this field.

When I am not chasing my next story or working away in a computer lab I enjoy exploring Bellingham and beyond, reading, riding bikes, playing frisbee with my roommates, and jumping in cold water (all year round).
